Not Her Fault

Ok, during my daily perusal of Yahoo! News I came across this ad that was pulled by the PA Liquor board because of the backlash.

Good Riddance.

I’m not sure exactly who approved this but Jiminy Crickets were their eyes sewn shut as they were looking at it?

RAPE IS NOT THE VICTIMS FAULT.

RAPE HAPPENS TO PEOPLE EVERY DAY-WITH AND WITHOUT THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL INVOLVED.

WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DRINK. IT IS NOT OUR FAULT HE DECIDED TO RAPE US.

And again…

RAPE IS NOT THE VICTIMS FAULT.

Let’s look at some of the statistics these dipshits should have considered before writing their headline.

*Every 2 (!!) minutes someone is sexually assaulted in the United States.

*80% are under the age of 30.

*60% are not reported to the police.

*15 of 16 rapists will not spend a day in jail.

*38% of rapists are a known friend or acquaintance.

*A female child victim is 7 times more likely to be re-victimized as an adult

*An American woman is 10 times more likely to be raped than to die in a car crash

Yeah, on that last one…

Their headline keeps looking worse and worse.

Do they know that rape isn’t about lust and desire, it’s a violent crime of POWER, CONTROL, and DOMINANCE?

And that it happens (again) every 2 (!!)  flipping minutes whether or not the victim DECIDES TO INDULGE IN ALCOHOL?!?!

EverY. Single. Victim. Wanted. To. Say. No.

I think the thing that gets my goat the most about this dumbass ad is the nonchalant way they say it:

“She didn’t want to do it, but she couldn’t say no.”

Like she really had a choice.

She “couldn’t” say no.

I’m sure she said no.

Plenty. Of. Damn. Times.

Why focus on her.

Why not put in the rapists perspective?

Is he not drunk too?

Is “alcohol” to blame for him violating her? Or her inability to say no?

“I wanted her. She said no. I didn’t care.”

No, it’s not.

It was still his choice to ignore her “No” and proceed.

You still have to make choices when you’re drunk.

This is a warning:

You need to consider the images, the words, the context of your ad.

I hope these dipshits have learned their lesson and maybe have learned a few things from the commenters.

Their ignorance deserves to be painted on a billboard.

I’ll grab the paint…

Whose bringing the ladders?

I really hate the excuse, “But she was asking for it.” That pisses me off so bad, you have no idea.
